Lately Cloudscape have been focusing on auditions to find a replacement to Björn Eliasson. Daniel is officially totally unknown and have only played in local bands and Cloudscape will be his first step into the world of melodic metal. Stay Tuned!! April 15 - 2010 Cloudscape working on fourth album to be entitled ”New Era”!! Statement from Cloudscape: Hey friends, fans, media and headbangers around the world!! As some of you might have noticed it has been quite silent around Cloudscape for some time. We have updated a few minor news in order to send you all some lifesigns. Nonetheless as mentioned, Cloudscape is still fully alive and hungrier than ever. But, 2009 and parts of 2010 have been quite struggling years mainly because of member changes and stuff which have prevented us from “moving on”. Roger Landin and Haynes Pherson left Cloudscape in early 2009 because of personal issues and they were shortly replaced by Fredrik Joakimsson (Drums) and Håkan Nyander (Bass). Fredrik and Håkan have filled the band with new fuel and inspiration and the songwriting for our 4th album is going really damn well and all of us are very excited about the new songsJ. We have a few more songs left to compose in order to have more than enough songs to the next album (New Era) but, we are quite sure we will be finished with the songwriting process during early fall. As soon as we are finished with the new songs we will start to check out the music business and contact different labels for a possible cooperation and release of “New Era”. We will also make sure to find good booking agencies that have the right connections to organize more liveshows and tours. Nonetheless we will try to do a few more shows during 2010 so, stay tuned and keep yourself up to date in this site. The next scheduled liveshow will be in Helsingborg, Sweden at the venue called The Tivoli as special guest to FULLFORCE on July 10. We will have something very special included in our setlist as well...don’t miss this event;). Unfortunally we have a sad announcement as well. Björn Eliasson have also decided to leave Cloudscape. His reasons for this is just like Roger and Haynes...personal reasons. He will continue to compose music in one way or another but, he will not be a part of Cloudscape anymore. So, all of us would like to say the following to Björn; “THANKS A MILLION for all the years we’ve been partners in crime in Cloudscape. You will certainly be missed and we really wish the best for you and your musical endeavors in the future to come. Cheers mate!!”. We are currently trying out a few replacements for Björn. A few sad things have happened like the departure of Roger Landin and Haynes Pherson but, luckily Cloudscape found great replacements in drummer Fredrik Joakimsson and bassplayer Håkan Nyander. During 2009 Cloudscape have mainly rehearsed their repertoire with Håkan and Fredrik plus performed a few concerts but, most of the time have been dedicated to the songwriting process for the fourth album. Cloudscape have written plenty of songs and they feel really happy and satisfied with them but, it's still too early to promise a 2010 release. Cloudscape will also try to get more concerts organized during 2010 so, if you live nearby a serious metal festival ´please don't hesitate to request Cloudscape for a slot. That's all for now and more news will follow shortly. September 16 - 2009 Progpower Europe revisit!! Cloudscape will visit Progpower Europe in Baarlo (The Netherlands) to perform live on Friday October 2. They will perform a setlist with a running time around 75 minutes and this is the second time Cloudscape performs live at Progpower Europe. The first time was in 2005 and that gig was the first gig Cloudscape did outsiode of Sweden so, they are really happy to be back on stage at venue Sjiwa (Baarlo). Björn Eliasson have recovered from his injuries so, it will be a 100% complete Cloudscape that will enter the stage on October 2. August 14 - 2009 Cloudscape minus 1 at Prog Metal Fest in Oslo!!! Cloudscape will perform live at Prog Metal Fest in Oslo, Norway on August 22 (Venue: Smuget) but, they will only be 4 on stage. Guitarplayer Björn Eliasson sadly suffers severe injuries on his spine/back and is unable to join Cloudscape during this concert due to the pain it causes him. He is really sad about this but, health comes first when it comes to such painful injuries. But, don't worry, Björn is recovering nicely and will be back on his feets very soon. The rest of Cloudscape promises to do a great and lively show at Prog Metal Fest with a 60 minute setlist spanning music from their 3 albums!! His decision is totally based on personal issues and has nothing to do with Cloudscape as a band or the bandmembers. Haynes and the members in Cloudscape are still great friends and the band respects and understand Haynes reasons for leaving and wishes him all the best for the future. Nonetheless Cloudscape have done a few auditions to find a good replacement to Haynes. Haynes was a great bassplayer and a great performer on stage so, it hasn't been easy to find the right guy to replace him but, recently Cloudscape did a few rehearsals with Håkan Nyander who also is the bassplayer in "Supreme Majesty" so, everything felt right and everything clicked really well with Håkan both musically and personally so, in other words Cloudscape is really happy to announce and welcome Håkan Nyander as their new and permanent bassplayer in Cloudscape. 2009 hasn't been the greatest year for Cloudscape but, the pieces are coming together now and Cloudscape is more hungry than ever now. Mike Andersson have started a new band called FULL FORCE together with Stefan Elmgren (ex Hammerfall) and Magnus Rosén (ex Hammerfall, Planet Alliance). A few days ago the band announced that former Yngwie J. Malmsteen drummer Anders Johansson (also in Hammerfall) joined the band and Carl-Johan Grimmark (Narnia) joined as the second guitarist. FULL FORCE is a "real band" and not a project. Songs are being written in order to complete their first album so, they hope to have the album ready for release during 2010 and they hope to hit the road for liveshows to promote the release afterwards. Nonetheless FULL FORCE will not affect any of the members other bands (Cloudscape, Hammerfall & Narnia). The musical direction is melodic heavy metal. The long awaited second album entitled Retrospective by Swiss progrockers Silent Memorial where Mike Andersson handles all vocals will be released worldwide on May 22, 2009 through German label Limb Music. He learned 10 songs in less than 9 days 100% and when the band met up to rehearse the setlist Fredrik impressed enourmously. The long awaited second album by Swiss progrockers “Silent Memorial” entitled ”Retrospective” where Mike Andersson handles the vocals have finally signed a worldwide deal with German label ”LMB Limb Music”. “Retrospective” will be released worldwide in April/May 2009!!! More exact info will be announced later on. Mike recorded the vocals and wrote lyrics for this album back in early 2006. Shortly thereafter Retrospective was mixed in the Roastinghouse studios and produced by Pontus Lindmark. Retrospective was completely recorded and finished during autumn 2006. The road to find a fitting and good label to release the album has been VERY long and rocky but, finally it has found a home in Limb Music. February 3 - 2009 Mike Andersson joins forces with former Hammerfall members!! Mike Andersson recently started to write songs together with Stefan Elmgren (ex Hammerfall) and Magnus Rosén (ex Hammerfall, Planet Alliance). Mike will handle the vocals, Stefan Elmgren the guitars and Magnus Rosén the bass. More members to this band will be recruited eventually and a bandname is yet to be decided. It has several times been promised that releaseinfo and dates should be announced "very soon" for "Global Drama". Global Drama will be released during 2008 but, there are a few details that the band can’t go public with just yet which is the reason for the delay. Everything’s ok, the album is as many of you know already finished and all members are doing really well and rehearsing in for the coming live shows. It is the business side of things (among others) that is the reason for the delay and their labels and management are planning to do a big promotion/marketing in for the release. Everything that concerns this delay will be explained along with the announcement as soon as possible but, please be patient...the album will be released sometime between June – September for sure. The band is very sorry for promising an early summer release but, that was their intention from the beginning. Nonetheless this delay is based on a good cause and Cloudscape is positive that everyone will understand once you know the reason for the delay!! No releasedates and releaseinfo are settled yet, but expect these details to be announced sometime during January 2008. Once again artwork wizard Mattias Norén was hired to do the artwork for the booklet and cover. The album was produced by Pontus Lindmark and recorded at Roastinghouse studios. A releasedate is yet to be announced thou, but as far as Cloudscape knows the album will be released in early 2008. August 23 - 2007 Cloudscape recording diary!! As you may know Cloudscape will enter the Roastinghouse studio on September 3. You can follow and discuss the recording process day by day like a studio diary with daily reports from the bandmembers. A fun thing to mention about this is that Cloudscape was mentioned as a "audience favourite" in a local (Notodden) newspaper the day after the festival. More news will follow shortly... July 13 - 2007 Third album in the works + other updates Cloudscape will enter the Roastinghouse studio in September to record their yet untitled third album. 12 songs will be recorded and the band is really satisfied with the outcome and variation that the new album will bring. There´s no releasedates settled yet but, expect the album to be released sometime during early 2008. Cloudscape is also filming a lot during their journeys to gigs and backstage footage so, hopefully they will have a descent amount of filmed material for a "possible" documentary that will be finished later this year. No details can be revealed about this just yet but, hopefully this can be released as an official DVD sometime in 2008...who knows but, right now there is nothing settled and it is only the band that is planning this. There will be some real live recordings but, mostly "behind the scenes" footage + the promotional videos. More details about this as soon as it can be revealed... Mike and Carl-Johan Grimmark (Narnia, Rob Rock) recently started to work on a second Planet Alliance album so, hopefully there will be a new Planet Alliance album released in 2008 or 2009. Cloudscape have been booked for a slot at the swedish metal festival called "Armageddon Open Air" on September 8. Cloudscape are happy to announce that they have been booked for a slot at the brand new metal festival in Norway (Notodden) called "Norway Metal Heart Festival" (www.metalheart.no). The festival dates are August 17 and 18 but. Cloudscape will play on the first day. January 16 - 2007 A few updates... It is now official that Cloudscape will enter the "Roastinghouse studio" in malmoe on September 3 in order to record their yet untitled 3rd album so, the plan is to have the album finished and released worldwide in early 2008. It is with a sad mix of anger and sadness that Cloudscape announces that the shows in Malmoe (Chokladfabriken) and Stockholm (Klubben) has been CANCELLED again. According to the organizer (Club Metal House) who is responsible of cancelling the shows said they´d expected more pre-sales but, one could imagine that many people would´ve bought their tickets at the door the same day. Club Metal House will not take that risk (even if they believe it´s true). This means that Pagan´s Mind won´t be playing either nor will Seventh Wonder and Moonlight Agony. Once again, Cloudscape is VERY, VERY sorry for this!! You who bought tickets for these shows can get your money back at ticnet or ATG service. A new Stockholm show is in the works thou for which Cloudscape is very happy but, this time it´s a different booker so, check in from time to time for updates. This will hopefully happen sometine during early 2007. November 27 - 2006 New promotional video (Demon Tears) ONLINE!!! The video for "Demon Tears" is finally online. It´s directed, filmed and edited by Rainer Holmgren. This video will also be as previously reported included on the "Progpower UK DVD sampler" which is available during the PPUK festival on March 31, 2007. 11 actors is acting in the video and Cloudscape wishes to thank all of them for doing a marvellous job. A fun thing to know is that, one of the actors in the "Demon Tears" video is Andy Pierce who is the leadsinger in Swedish glamrockers "Nasty Idols". September 18 - 2006 Janne Starks "Mountain Of Power" Mike Andersson has recorded all vocals on a song on Swedish guitarist Janne Starks forthcoming solo album. The album is called "Mountain Of Power" and the album includes a lot of old hardrock songs from the seventies. There´s a lot of well known artists included on the album and Mike is one of them and he sings a song called "Black Train" which originally was recorded by "Montrose". Streetdate for this album in set to November 24. Check it out! September 12 - 2006 New promotion video!!! Cloudscape has decided to shoot a new promotion video. The song that has been choosen is “Demon tears” (Crimson skies). Cloudscape wishes to thank all friendly fans that helped them out voting for the most appropriate song to shoot a video for!! The final result in the “voting poll” located in the Cloudscape forum ended up with “Demon tears” and “Breach in my sanity” sharing number 1 position. After internal discussions within the band and also director Rainer Holmgren who will film and direct the video the final choice fell on “Demon Tears”. The video will be used in the purpose of promotion and will also be included in the “Progpower UK” DVD that will be available during that festival on March 31, 2007. In other news Mike has finished the vocal recordings for the yet untitled "Silent Memorial" album. The album will be mixed and mastered in the Roastinghouse studio sometime during late spring or early summer 2006. Planet Alliance is a project-band where several respected, high class musicians were carefully selected in order to participate in the line-up. The musical direction is melodic hard rock/metal with strong hooklines. Mike Andersson (Cloudscape) and Magnus Karlsson (Last Tribe, Starbreaker, Allen/Lande) started to compose songs for Planet Alliance in early 2005. January 3 - 2006 Marcel Coenen - Colour journey The Dutch guitar wizard Marcel Coenens secons soloalbum (Colour journey) will be released the 20:th of January all over Europe through Lion Music. Mike is one of the guestsingers and sings the opening track on the album called "Waiting" (more album info can be found in the "discography" page). A releaseparty is scheduled to the 28:th of January in "Weert" (The Netherlands) and the venue is "De Bosuil". The concert will be filmed by 6 cameras for a future DVD release. Roger has now recorded the drums on all tracks for "Crimson skies" so, Haynes will start the bass recordings during this week (follow the recording process in the Cloudscape forum). December 21 - 2005 Cloudscape wishes everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! The second album will be entitled "Crimson Skies". The song titles will be officially announced in the Cloudscape "forum" inside the "Studio diary" thread as soon as the recording begins. The song formula on Crimson Skies will according to Cloudscape follow the footsteps of the debut stylewise but, it will be a bit more melodic and sometimes a bit proggier compared to the debut but, all in all Cloudscape believes that it´s best that the listener and fans judges the new songs since Cloudscape don´t wanna build unecessary expections. Crimson skies will be released in Europe during June 2006 through Metal Heaven and in Asia most likely some time before that through "Marquee/Avalon". The colloboration with Progman records in the U.S is no more since the label has seized to be. Negotiations with new labels for a possible U.S release will start during spring 2006 handled by Cloudscapes manager at Roastinghouse. November 22 - 2005 Studio updates + a live review It´s been a while since the Cloudscape camp had any "news" to share but, in order to give you some kind of "life-sign" from Cloudscape there are a few things to make official + a "live review" from "Progpower Europe". The recording sessions for the second Cloudscape album will start the 26:th of December in the "Roasting House studio". We do not have an exact release date yet but, the European label (Metal Heaven) will release it during June 2006 for sure. In Japan/Asia the album will be released during spring 2006. An album title is also decided but, Cloudscape will wait a month or 2 to reveal the title since it´s nearly 8 months left to the European release. The sales of their debut has been very good and they of course hope that their second album will sell even more;). Once again the producers will be Anders "Theo" Theander and Pontus Lindmark. Mattias Norén will handle all artwork. In other news Mike has finished the pre-production of the 7 songs that will be included in "Silent Memorials" second album. "Hard to imagine that this was CLOUDSCAPE's first gig outside of their home country Sweden. A very solid show with melodic, slightly progressive metal and definite roots in classic hardrock bands. They have a very strong singer in Mike Andersson, not only shown in their own songs, but also in the amazing cover of Whitesnake's "Still Of The Night". Hey, didn't we hear that before (see Mind Key review), haha! This version was much more professional and closer to the original though. Most of the songs played were of course from their great self-titled debut album, but they also played one new song, "Demon Tears", off the next album, to be released in June 2006. See Live Pictures October 6 - 2005 Back home from Progpower Europe 2005! Cloudscape wishes to thank everybody who supported them during their gig at "Progpower Europe" and they also thank festival president Rene Janssen and the crew for working their fingers to the bone making the festival run smoothly. The responce was fantastic and numerous people/fans praised their gig afterwards. It was the first performance Cloudscape did outside of Sweden so, they really hope to be able to visit Europe in general next year for more shows. Pictures from the Progpower Europe show will be uploaded very soon. The remaining months of 2005 Cloudscape will fully concentrate in rehearsing the new songs for their yet untitled second album. The recording of the drums will start in late December in the "Roasting House studios". September 27 - 2005 Progpower Europe + sideprojects... One week remaining ´til 2005´s edition of Progpower Europe takes place in Baarlo - The Netherlands. Cloudscape is really looking forward to this so, make sure to watch them live on Sunday the 2:nd of October. They will be on stage "16.25 - 17.25 hrs". Other bands that performs on the Sunday is "Wolverine, Pagan´s Mind, Pain Of Salvation, Dynamic Lights and The Aurora Project". After recieving an offer from the bandleaders of the Swiss projectband "Silent Memorial" Mike has agreed to record the vocals and write lyrics on their second album. Their debut was released in Asia in 1998 with Thomas Vikström handeling the vocals. No releasedates are set yet but, Mike will record the vocals in the "Roasting House studios" sometime early 2006. Mike is really looking forward to this since he like the music of Silent Memorial and he says it´s very progressive compared to Cloudscape so, he sees it as a challenge as well. August 14 - 2005 A few updates... The concert in Ängelholm was cancelled because the festival area was filled with water due to lots of raining lately. The organizers are really sorry about this but, there ain´t much to do:(. There has been many twists and turns regarding the U.S. release. The album is still not released in the States and the label is working hard to make sure that they´ll have a new website up ´n running as soon as possible. July 12 - 2005 CLOUDSCAPE debut album finally released in the U.S The debut album of Cloudscape is finally released in the U.S through "Progman Records". There have been some technical problems along the way since the album first was planned to be released but, all those things are solved now and finally it is released and the packaging is a nice Digi-pack.
